Polished Concrete can be called out by an Architect, installed by a skilled GHP (grind, hone, polish) Craftsman and ultimately is maintained by the Owner. Whomever you may be, Green Umbrella will make your experience with polished concrete a success.
Architects
Specifying polished concrete has been a gamble. Unfamiliar concrete producers can make design recommendations that negatively impact the polish. Inexperienced flatwork contractors can take a hands off approach feeling their product will be ground so attention to ACI standards or detail is not required. GHP Contractors have a variety of experience, equipment, use a mix of concrete treatments and may fall back on blaming the producer or flatwork contractor.
Green Umbrella will help you with education and specifications that will provide a blueprint for success from the ‘pour to the polish.’
Craftsmen
As a contractor, achieving polished concrete consistently – project after project – is a challenge. Mix designs vary. Place and finish contractors use a variety of finish methods from hand tools to power trowels all the while battling changing weather conditions. Finally, after the concrete has been placed with limited quality control in the hands of the GHP contractor, you are now tasked with creating a brilliant finished product. Concrete Treatments
The Green Umbrella family of concrete treatments are designed with the contractor, owner and environment in mind. As a contractor you know your employees are imperfect and likely to take the path of least resistance i.e. not read the instructions, not scrub in or scrub out correctly that densifier, not allow the proper dwell time or dry time, not mix the proper ratio, etc. Green Umbrella treatments are engineered to be safe, simple, easy to apply, intuitive to read the reaction on concrete and aimed at moving the process along quickly and properly. Many are pH neutral, single application and 100% reactive, leading to a floor the owner will see well protected for decades.
Equipment
As a Grind, Hone & Polish Craftsman you are asked to take any concrete canvas in any stage of construction craft polished concrete. Propane equipment has proven itself to perform in any environment – EPA/CARB engines allow safe work indoors; cordless and non-dependent on electricity, propane machines can work wet during any phase of the process grind, hone or polish. The use of propane powered grinders and edgers leads to a finished product that is consistent from edge to field.

GreenIce Cure & Polish
GreenIce Cure & Polish provides a cure and finish for concrete which stops moisture related deterioration issues and other moisture problems. Concrete failures due to salt, chemical penetration, moisture penetration and freeze-thaw cycles cause most of the concrete deterioration in the country. The GreenIce Cure & Polish is designed to cure concrete faster, increase abrasion resistance and add a high-gloss finish!

Green Umbrella BaseDefense Concrete Treatment Systems includes products which complement one another. GreenUmbrella Dry Shield™ increases hardness while reducing porosity in polished concrete floors. Green Umbrella Microfilm™ is an environmentally friendly hybrid surface treatment creating a durable micro-thin layer to seal polished concrete.
- Requires no rinsing and disposal and will not gel on surface — can be allowed to air dry.
- Stands up to heavy abrasion and foot traffic while providing excellent slip resistance.
- Has the highest abrasion resistance.
- PH neutral — does not interfere with application of concrete dyes as sodium products will. Decreases black tire marking from lift trucks and other equipment.
